Sandwich Grant for Academic Cooperation between
The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and
National Taiwan University School of Pharmacy
I. Purpose
Sandwich Program is to establish a cooperative relationship between the National Taiwan University School of Pharmacy (NTUSP) and the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy (UMCOP) in order to advance pharmacy education and scholarly productivity of both schools.
II. Eligibility
1. Applicants must be graduate students enrolled in Master’s program at the NTUSP.
2. Advisers of the applicants in the Master’s program at the NTUSP shall have a collaborative basis in research with the advisers in the doctoral program at the UMCOP.
III. Application
Applicants should submit application materials to NTUSP by the end of July in the year prior to their graduation from the Master’s program at NTUSP. Those who get recommended by NTUSP to the UMCOP should also complete the application of the PhD program per the requirements of the Rackham Graduate School and UMCOP. Admission to the UMCOP PhD program will be at the sole discretion of UMCOP using their normal standards and process.
IV. Funding Principles
1. The financial support for the Master’s program at the NTUSP will go into the students’ lab for 2 years with an annual amount of USD$30,000 once the students are accepted in the Sandwich Program.
2. This Grant supports the students for an annual amount of USD$ 30,000 in the doctoral program for up to 4 years at the UMCOP.
3. Once received the doctoral degree at the UMCOP, the students are obligated to do a two-year postdoctoral research at the NTUSP, with an annual fund of USD$ 30,000 supported by this Grant.
V. Miscellaneous Terms and Conditions
1. Unless otherwise agreed, the selected students and their advisers are obligated to undertake and complete this program with no arbitrary alteration and termination; no substitution or replacement can be made had the cooperative program need to be terminated early.
2. This Grant, sponsored by Dr. Larry Hsu, will support up to two students annually, for a total of six students to join the Sandwich Program.
3. This Grant shall be initiated from the 2018 Academic Year once approved by the School Affairs Council at the NTUSP. Amendment shall be in accordance with the execution condition of the program and the following funding sources.
